Increasing rate of change

Leaders are confronted with an increasing rate of change

Leading in times of accelerating change.

John F. Kennedy once said that:

Change is the law of life and those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future

There is absolutely no doubt that he was right. Change happens all the time.

Shifting powers between West and East, technological evolutions, changing economic landscapes, financial systems that are under severe pressure, new innovative companies that change market places.

Change comes in all forms right now. It comes in little pieces, big pieces, continuous – there’s a lot of that. The direction companies are going right now is not only lots of small, but more frequent big changes. And that’s the direction the future is going to be.

Leaders are confronted with an increasing rate of change and complexity and need to find ways to deal with it. Leading a company through change has become different from how it was ten to twenty years ago.

Corporate transformation under pressure

Technological change and globalization

The two biggest drivers are technological change and globalization. They produce lots of sub drivers, like competition in industries and the like, and those two are not going to go away.

Globalization is going to bring us closer and closer together across nations and technology. So, the amount of change is going to – the rate is just gong to go up and up and up.

What is the key to survival in a rapidly changing business environment? Constantly adapting in an ever changing business landscape will be key. The long-term advantage lies with organizations that are able to act fast and agile.
