Employees emotions are where the momentum for real change management ultimately lies
Organizational change will be extremely difficult if managers rely only on making a case to the rational, analytical, problem-solving side of the brain. Instead, they must also make an emotional case for change and align the rational and emotional elements of the appeal.
In recent years, more organisations are using videos as a change management tool, because videos are the best medium to store and convey stories – especially the emotional elements of the story.
Here is brilliant example of the use of video as a storytelling tool – the trailer of the movie, Prometheus. By using real event brand – TED – and projecting it into the future, i.e. year 2023, we are unconsciously drawn into the story. It’s akin to getting invitation to participate in the future – told by the movie:
If you’ll indulge me, I’d like to change the World
Transformational change demands that leaders get quick buy-in and immediate positive changes in employee behaviours. Storytelling may help you cut through – to mobilise your organization and align actions with your strategic vision.
Storytelling can be a powerful tool when you want to drive organizational change.
